Hostname Authentication Failing
Hostname Authentication Failing
Hostname authentication requires a couple of prerequisites to work correctly. If these are not in place, you may see the Captive Portal or your captures may show the IP address as the username upon a hostname authentication failure.
For hostname authentication to work correctly, the following needs to be in place.
MAC Randomisation disabled in the MDM settings
Private Wi-Fi disabled on the iPad’s
A Reverse DNS lookup zone
Configure DNS Reverse Lookup Zones and PTR Records (Step by Step Guide)
Set rDNS in Windows Name Servers - How to perform it quickly
If the hostname still fails with the above in place, then please contact the support team for further investigation.
