The Securus Windows Client supports LDAP in the form of client side automatic syncing.

This feature only works with a local Active Directory server and does not work with Azure AD.

The client will reference your Active Directory when a user connects and will automatically create the OU structure for the location of the user, if it is missing. If the structure already exists, the user will be moved into the correct location.

We recommend enabling Client LDAP at the top level of your school OU structure.

Enable LDAP

To turn this feature on, go to the Settings view.

Go to Settings and click on LDAP.

Click on Edit.

Change Client LDAP to Yes if set to No. then click Save.

By default, LDAP will only sync user accounts. To enable syncing of station accounts, change Client Ldap Station to Yes as well.

Click Save to finish.

As the sync is based off recent logins, it may take a few days to fully populate all of your OU’s and groups from Active Directory.

Renaming Groups

Groups can be renamed by using the Display Name field. In the Settings panel, click on the group you want to edit from the Directory Tree and then click on Edit.

Use the Display Name field to modify the name of the group. This change will be permanent and will not affect the operation of the client.

The change in Display Name will be reflected across the console, including captures and when creating or assigning supervisors.

Click Save to make your changes.

The Directory Tree will now show the new name.

Deleting Groups

LDAP groups can be deleted manually from the Directory Tree.

Please note that the group will need to be removed from your Active Directory first otherwise it will re-appear within Securus.

In the Settings panel, click on the group you want to edit from the Directory Tree and then click on Edit.

Change the Default User Group and Default Station Group options to “Select an option” and click Save.

This removes the default groups allowing them to be deleted. The change will be reflected on the previous screen showing no default groups are selected.

Now the groups can be deleted. Click on the Station group and then click on Delete Station Group.

Click Delete on the pop-up menu. Repeat this process for the User group. You should be left with just the Organisational Unit (OU) left.

With the OU selected, click on Delete Org Unit.

Click Delete to finish. The groups will now have been removed.
